Rainbow Layer Cake Swap

I've decided to host a layer cake swap.  It will have every color of the rainbow!  I participated in a similar swap last year and made this fun quilt top:

I have room for 24 participants and would like to limit the swap to local people in the Kansas City area...  If you're interested in learning more, follow THIS LINK to our Flickr group.  Thanks!

Using Scraps

I have a problem. A scrap problem. I am not one to throw things away. You might mistake me for a fabric hoarder, but I like to think of myself more as careful to not waste.

I had some yardage of various green solid fabrics, so I cut them into about 9 inch squares, marked a couple lines down them diagonally with a 1 1/2 inch thick ruler. Then I let the center of the green blocks shine through.

Also, I chopped lots of my scraps into strips. Didn't sort them. Didn't worry about how thick or thin, as long as they were at least 1 inch thick.

All that was left was to get busy sewing. :)

I have plenty of scraps and have hardly made a dent in the scrap pile. To be continued...
